Leave for employees

Your employees are entitled to time off from work for various reasons. The most common forms of leave are holidays, parental leave and leave of absence, but there are also other statutory leaves.

Vacation pay is the compensation that you, as a business owner, pay to your employees when they take annual leave. Vacation allowance is what you pay when an employee ends their employment and for employment shorter than three months.

Parental leave and VAB

Parents are entitled to parental leave when a child is born or adopted. If your employee wants to take parental leave, they must notify you as the employer at least two months before the start of the leave. Employees with a sick child are entitled to time off from work with temporary parental benefit (referred to as VAB).
