Authorisation for insurance distribution (application)

Authorisation from Finansinspektionen is required to conduct insurance distribution.

Information about the authorisation

The authorisation for distributing insurance must be registered with the Swedish Companies Registration Office. The Swedish Companies Registration Office must have received the notification of registration within six months from the date the authorisation was granted. 

An insurance intermediary is a natural or legal person, with the exception of insurance undertakings or their employees, who receives compensation to conduct insurance distribution.

Insurance distribution refers to activities consisting of 

  1. providing advice on or suggesting insurance contracts or conducting other preparatory work before an insurance contract is entered into, 
  2. entering into an insurance contract, or 
  3. assisting in the management or completion of an insurance contract.
