Freedom from bankruptcy certificate

Last updated: 2022-03-11

If you are going to apply for a permit or submit a tender in a public procurement process, you may need a Freedom from bankruptcy certificate.

This kind of certificate from the registry of the bankruptcies of natural persons and estates maintained by the Swedish Companies Registration Office shows if a person or an estate is listed in the registry or not by name and personal identity number.

The certificate can be viewed as either a certificate of freedom from bankruptcy or as a bankruptcy certificate, depending on its content.  If there is information in the registry about a bankruptcy, the address, the date on which the bankruptcy was declared, the supervisory authority and the bankruptcy trustee will be shown on the certificate. The Swedish Companies Registration Office cannot issue certificates for legal persons.
