The Government has decided on a temporary discount for companies in certain industries. The discount is an agreement between the company and the landlord and is valid from 1 April to 30 June 2020.
The application for rental support is now closed.
Compensation is given with a maximum of 50% of the discounted fixed rent (i.e. the discount itself), however a maximum of 25% of the original fixed rent.
The Swedish National Board of Housing, building and Planning (Boverket) has published frequently asked questions and answers about the rental assistance. The list updates when new questions come in.
If you have signed a temporary lease discount for your tenant who runs a business in certain vulnerable business, the application is now opened. The agreement between you and your tenant on the temporarily reduced rent would have been signed no later than 30 June 2020 and is valid for the period April to June 2020.
You as a landlord can apply for support for a maximum of 50% of the discount you have given on the fixed rent to your tenant. You can receive a maximum of 25% of the fixed rent that was valid from or before 1 March 2020.
You apply for the support from the Swedish National Board of Housing Building and Planning and some county administrative boards are processing the application. The application is open from 1 July to 31 August 2020.
The support meant that you who rented an office or another premise could temporarily get a discount on your fixed rent so that you got a lower rent during April to June 2020. The temporary rent reduction was an agreement between you and your landlord. You cannot apply for the rental assistance yourself, but your landlord will.
